The Cornwell Sailing Center is home to Traverse Area Community Sailing. The facility provides a great place to launch any one of our fleet of boats from our youth training boats (Optimist Prams), out 420's, Lasers or Interlakes. Our Learn to Sail programs run from June to August and are available to youth of all ages from 8 to 80.

ADULT LEARN TO SAIL - For the young of heart, our adult program is taught in the 17' Interlakes on Boardman lake.

ADVANCED SAILING - Aimed at sailors who have previously participated in the Youth Sailing Sessions, the Advanced Session teaches sail trim, race tactics and advanced boat handling in 1 person (Lasers), 2 person (Club 420's) and 3 person boats (Interlakes)

TACS RACING TEAM - For Middle and High School students who have completed the Advanced Sailing Session, and are looking to fine tune their skills and learn to race. Then this is the next step for you. Designed for beginning as well as experienced racers, we will practice three mornings as well as participate in local and US Sailing events. The Racing Team also provides sailors the opportunity to race as part of a crewed boat on a 17' Interlake on Thursdays against some of the best sailors in the area. The Racing team Sessions will be held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 12:30-4:00.

OPEN SAILING! - Come sailing on Boardman Lake on with a season pass! This year we will be open on Tuesday, Thursday evenings as well as all day Saturday on Sunday.

HIGH SCHOOL RACING TEAM - TACS supports local high school sailors competing in the Midwest Inter-scholastic Sailing Association. Sailors from Glen Lake, Suttons Bay, Traverse City Central and Traverse City West High Schools train on Tues, Wed. & Thurs. afternoons (in season). The teams travel to regattas across the Midwest on their quest to have fun & win a National Championship

ADAPTIVE SAILING - Adaptive sailing is a program that is inclusive to individuals with all abilities, including but limited to those with physical and/or cognitive delays, and those with critical health concerns. Easy access is the key to providing services for all, and the Cornwell Sailing Center provides barrier free docks, lifts and equipment. Community funding and collaboration has been necessary to provide the boats, instruction, and volunteers to run a safe and fun program. The program is open on Tues & Thurs evenings at the Cornwell Sailing Center on Boardman Lake.
